I'm a PEPPER

Your Dad wanted me to write and tell you about our great Dr. Pepper sale that we found. One day last week I think Friday I was in Albertson and they had a sale on Dr. Pepper, buy 2 twelve pack for 10.56 and get 2 twelve packs free. At first I thought this was a little high but I like free so I got 8. Then while I am in the check out line they make an anouncement over the P.A. that when you buy these 2 and get 2 free you will get a 10.00 coupon to spend on anything you want. The big saving showed up after the first four were scaned and the bill came to 11.22 which I paid, then they gave me the 10.00 coupon and ran the next 4 the total was 11.22 I used the coupon and paid 1.22. That is 1.22 for four twelve packs, that is .30 and 1/2 cent for each twelve pack or .02 and 1.2 cent pre can of pop. We went back on Saturday night and tried to get 12 twelve packs but there was a limit of 8, so we got 8. The next day was Sunday so no shopping. Moday Ken took me on a date night to get as many 12 pack as we could. They were tracking the sales through the prefered cards, so we got 3 more card from our friends that were not going to use them for the pop. By the end of Monday night we had 40 twelve packs and one more day of shopping the sale. Tuesday we went out and got our last 32 pack, making a total of 80 twelve packs. In the end I have a 10.00 coupon to spend in the store so that replaces the first 10.00 investment and at 1.22 per 4 twelve packs we spent 24.40 for 80 twelve packs of DR.PEPPER!

Thoughts from Dad

I'm sitting here in my living room, now a beautiful gray color well blue when the light is right. We are thrilled with the out come of PAINT YOUR HEART OUT DAY. Thanks to Janet & Tate, Darlene and our home teacher Josh Smith. My job was to take all the kids to the zoo and the MK fish display and what would be an outing without lunch for the kids at McDonald's. Much thanks to you all for you efforts. It was a long day and you still had to drive home after all that you went through. One drop cloth and very few drips of paint. I owe you all one for the future, you call me and I'll be there for you, just like you were for us. If you were not asked to paint don't feel like you were slighted. Believe me we could have used lots of help Rob, but you have 2 very small children. Our house was more like a zoo than a house. I want you to know I wanted to ask your help, but I didn't want to put your wife through living hell. I did ask Tricia and she was going to help but then had problems because of transportation.



I'd like to discuss the spare room we have. It is actually our family room. It is pretty much able to handle 8 people. If your going somewhere, coming back from somewhere or spending time in Boise and need a motel room. Private access. Feel free to call and reserve the room . It comes with a double bed, a double air mattress, a double hide bed and 2 all most new sleeping bags and a porta crib. There is also a T.V. with movies. You'll have to take turn taking showers. Well that's my pitch for the Wood Motel.



Janet and Tate mentioned that the family might like to do a project at our house each year that we did the water park. I guess it is their nice way of doing service for grandma and grandpa as they continue to get older. I want you to know the list I have is ling it has always been long. I am an A personality. I bury myself a lot in projects that I am getting to old to accomplish. I can't tell you how much, a chicken coop has been on my mind. I plan to turn a good share of my driveway into row crops. It wouldn't bother me much to park the car in front of the house and turn the rest of the driveway into egg producing chickens type creatures. I'm sure Darlene doesn't shave my desire to be a mini farm (I am okay with a mini farm but I think we should live in a farm area).



So as it stands projects for me are a nice idea, but projects to help the poor of disadvantaged people make move sense we could organize as a family, find a cause and do some honest to goodness Christ like love. I would tel you that I don't have long to live I feel I must pursue the cause of the Lord as should we all.



I'll close now by telling my success at being happily married to Darlene. First off she is a princess, and what the princess wants she gets. Darlene is famous she is an electrician, a plumber a fix it man. She recently remolded the bathroom and with your help the house was painted. There is nothing she wants to do that she can't accomplish. She is a great cook, she lets me keep the house clean, she allows me to provide a nice yard. I get to keep her car clean, I get up each day and fix a nice lunch for her to take to school. I defrost her care and have it warm for her to drive to work. That is my secret to a successful marriage. Given them what they want!

Painting Party

The Carters stayed over an extra day after the water park and Saturday Janet, Tate, our home teacher and I painted the inside of the house. The first picture shows the real colors, however they change throughout the day and the house depending on the light. We LOVE IT! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

While we were painting Grandpa took the kids to the zoo and the fish park, they had a great time!

Brace yourself for this next picture it can be a little scary this is what I looked like after being at the water park and not putting on sun block until after lunch. OUCH! Next year the sun block goes on when the swimsuit goes on!

Water Park 2009

Isaac loved the pink cake and grandpa's baked beans.

We all had a great time at the water park again this year. This was the Leonard family first time to join in the fun and Grandpa got to hold Rylee all day, what a treat. Sam, Chad, Jeff and Dalton also came for the first time. We missed Tricia and her kids but we can look forward to next year. Life happens. There were 26 people in the group.

Dad is 64.

Ken wanted me to write and say thank you to the Carters for the collections of old old TV commercials. We have been enjoying them, laughing and remembering the different ads.
We have been redoing the bathroom. You know how you think it will be an job but not too bad, and then you get into the work and it turns into an all week project. We are on day 3 of the rebuild and then today and Friday I had to take a class for school so we hope to finish it by Saturday. Then we can start on getting the rest of the house ready to paint. Sounds like fun, NOT!

Looking forward to seeing everyone for the water park. We are counting down the days.

Where in the world is Grandpa's grass.

When looking at our yard it is easy to miss the grass (and the weeds) because of all the bushes and flowers. Of course the key is found in the second picture it is that long green thing that is in the road and the constant water that is running through it.

These are some of our tomato plants this year. We have some small green tomatos on the plants at this time and we are looking forward to some red ones.

On the right is our raspberry patch. It went wild this year. Earlier this spring we cut them all back to about 3 feet tall and tied them to the wires. Now they are over my head and it is a jungle to get through them everyday when I pick them. In the past few days I have make 13 pints of jam from the berries.
